One of my goals for the past few years has been to connect more with the people I love. I know, I know. We follow each other on Facebook and text once in awhile. Well, I realized how much I missed not only receiving a handwritten note once every now and then, I missed writing them. Thus the goal to connect with a personal touch. Birthday cards are now sent via the postal service (and yes, I do put my happy birthday wishes on Facebook still) and I try to hand write a note or a letter once a week.
I rediscovered the love I have for picking the perfect card to send my best friend or the exact card someone needs for encouragement; I love the time spent in the Hallmark store! But, alas, I am also trying to save time and be more organized and so I buy my cards for the month all at the same time and needed some place to keep them organized.
This is super simple to make!
Thick Cardstock for your dividers
Scissors or a cutting machine such as a Cricut or Silhouette
A good ole marker or if you are lucky like me, a label maker
An appropriate size box. I pulled out a greeting card and tried out several boxes. The cute ones were just too big and bulky and I ended up going for practical!
Measure your chosen box and cut 12 dividers, once for each month. I used my Cricut to cut a file folder in the right size but you can sure cut the rectangles with scissors! Use a tab punch to create labels to tape top of the cardstock if you want or go simple like me and add the tab to my rectangle. My dividers are folded in half, I figure they will be perfect to hold stickers, stamps, or a dollar bill to slip into a little ones card.
Now is the time to write the month on the tabs or use your label maker like I did. I went for utility instead of fancy!
Easy Peasy! Put your dividers in and add your greeting cards in the corresponding month. I keep the list of important dates in my planner but made a list to keep in my very own Greeting Card Organizer!
Never again will I lose the perfect card for my best friend I found months before her birthday. I will know exactly where it is now that I have an organized system to stay connected with my friends and family.
