Hubby loves those big soft pretzels you can buy at the mall (okay already, I do as well!) and so when I saw a recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction pop up in my Pinterest feed for soft pretzel bites, I knew I had to give them a try.
The recipe was easy to follow and the only change I made was to make it in my Kitchen Aid with the dough hook instead of kneading it by hand. Making pretzel bites was a whole lot easier than making the large soft shaped pretzels for sure! Hubby kept hovering nearby and kept offering to taste test them when they came out of the oven. What a generous guy, HA!
I must have made mine larger because the recipe did not yield 5 dozen bites for me. I also think I should have cooled them a lot longer before putting them in an airtight container because they got slightly soggy. Hubby shrugged that minor flaw off and said they were still delicious. What’s a little sogginess amongst friends!
These are incredibly delicious and if you a fan of those big soft pretzels you will love these. Some cheese sauce or honey mustard as a dip and they’d also be perfect for parties. I somehow missed the instructions for make ahead dough, freezing it for up to three months or I would frozen half!
The verdict: I’ve found these yummy bites to be THE perfect hubby reward for going the extra mile or bribe for me wanting him to go the extra mile, HA!
